My job has stopped scheduling me hours, and my father says I can’t go looking for a new job right now since Joe Biden is planning to shut down the Florida boarders and everyone will be scrambling for all of the jobs around our area. What should I do?

Ever since I asked my manager to change my schedule a bit at the request of my parents (I used to work 5 days for four hours part time, now I’m supposed to work 4 days for five hours a time), she has not only treated me like dirt under her shoe in terms of embarrassing me and verbally insulting me during shifts in front of employees and customers, but she also slashed my hours to where I’ve been scheduled for one day to two days a week (4 hours each day) for the past several weeks now. Their excuse seems to be that despite corporate making a year’s worth of profits within only 3 months thanks to Covid, they’re unable to handle the extra labor and need to cut hours out. However, the newbies who get hired there seem to have full schedules despite this. I really want to quit this job as it’s a waste of my time now, the company took away our hazard/premium pay so we’re being payed less for the same work, and it’s dangerous to work there since neither corporate nor’ the employees care about safety against Covid (we let tons of people in without masks and can’t do anything about it, since my store manager says it is not our right to infringe on customer’s rights). I do my best to sanitize everything after ever customer, especially after ones who don’t wear masks. It’s a miracle that I haven’t brought other diseases home let alone Covid.

What should I do at this point? I don’t know how to contact the regional manager (not that it would really matter anyways, my store manager and the regional manager are close friends), and I need hours to continue saving up for community college. I’ve heard that you could still get unemployment benefits even if you put your two weeks in, and I’ve heard that you could even get the manager in trouble for them refusing to schedule you (and for the other terrible things she’s done to me). Thanks for any advice!

I should also mention that she (my store manager and a few other assistant managers) has been abusive towards me for most of the time I’ve been working there, the abuse didn’t just start right after I requested the schedule change.

EDIT: What I meant about the abuse was that they were doing it from the beginning, but it got even worse after the schedule request. Sorry about that.
